ACE Academy
Join us for this exciting, Aviation based camp! You'll learn the basics of flight through hands on activities, and have fun in the process! Activities include - Full sized flight simulator, building and launching solid fuel rockets, several smaller flight simulators, learning the parts and functions of airplanes, and much more!
ACE Academy is a five day program for students grades 7-11 interested in any aspect of flying. Participants will learn the basic physics of flying, including forces of flight, torque, and load distribution. They will have the opportunity to build plane models and investigate control surfaces (ailerons, elevator, and rudder) and the principal of vectoring with jet engines. Students will investigate projectile motion using rockets and gliders with a variety of activities. They will become familiar with a basic instrument panel (altimeter, ground speed, air speed, directions, and tachometer) and apply that knowledge with flight simulator software.
Each day there will be a presentation by a professional in aviation. We hope to include not only pilots, but also aviation design, mechanics, maintenance, attendants, and others.
Homeschoolers! The fees for this camp may be covered by your homeschool program! Ask how your highschooler can earn HS credit for attending camp! Call for more details.
